Weather Prediction
Weather prediction in remote mountain regions is notoriously difficult. Especially in areas where there are no weather stations. Despite that, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) produces the Global Forecast System (GFS), a weather prediction model for any Latitude and Longitude in the world. As there are so few stations to validate the model data in the real world, we had to rely heavily on empirical observation for validation.
Process Standardization:
- NOAA Air Resource Laboratory (ARL) READY ready.noaa.gov
- Summarize graphical output into text. (few sentence description)
- Expedition to remote area for validation.
- Messaging via Garmin InReach for updates.
This process was so valuable that I could offer it as a service to anyone in a remote area anywhere in the world for accurate weather prediction.
Below is a sample of the graphical data output by NOAA.
